VAUGHAN, ON--(Marketwired - October 02, 2014) - As part of its popular peaksaver PLUS conservation program, PowerStream is now offering a free Home Energy Check-up to the next 500 customers who sign up for the program. PowerStream energy advisors will identify and discuss energy saving opportunities to help these customers reduce electricity consumption and costs.
Funded by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA), the peaksaver PLUS program provides installation of free touch-screen programmable thermostats with online access, as well as in-home energy displays to customers who have central air conditioning.
PowerStream's WIN with peaksaver PLUS contest further offers qualified participants the chance to win a grand prize package of up to $15,000 in energy-efficient General Electric appliances. PowerStream customers who won the first two early birds draws, featured on the WIN with peaksaver PLUS contest winners page, received prizes including a Sharp 70" high definition LED television, a Panasonic digital camera, Black & Decker power tools, and a Nottawasaga Inn Resort getaway package.
The WIN with peaksaver PLUS contest is open to PowerStream customers who are currently enrolled in the company's peaksaver PLUS conservation program as well as those who enrol during the contest period. Current program participants can qualify simply by completing the contest entry form.

BACKGROUND
- The peaksaver PLUS program was created by the OPA to help reduce the strain on the Ontario electricity system caused by central air conditioners operating at maximum during hot summer days. By activating peaksaver PLUS, air conditioners are cycled on and off to reduce electricity demand across the province.
