BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Nov 4, 2014) - LearnLaunch, Boston's edtech Community, Campus and Accelerator, today announced the appointment of Liam Pisano to its leadership team. Liam will serve as Managing Director and oversee LearnLaunch's Accelerator program, Campus co-working space, and coordinate with its non-profit Institute.
"Less than two years since its founding, LearnLaunch has focused the powerful lever of innovation on all aspects of learning and education: developing promising startups in our accelerator, energizing companies at our edtech co-working campus and bringing the community together at our thought-leading Across Boundaries conference," said Jean Hammond, Partner at LearnLaunch. "We are really pleased to add Liam, a leader with significant experience in capital markets, fund and portfolio management as we grow the capital pool needed to catapult these edtech startups to significant growth."
Liam is an investment professional with over 15 years of experience investing in growth equity, leveraged buyout and venture debt transactions in the education services, digital media and communications sectors. Prior to joining LearnLaunch, Liam held investment roles at Spectrum Equity Investors, Patriot Capital and Hercules Technology Growth Capital, as well as co-founding edtech startup Academic Earth. Liam has a degree in Political Science from Williams College and an MBA from Yale University.
"Education technology is primed to be a growth sector and agent of change both locally and nationally, and I am thrilled to join a platform so well positioned to stimulate that growth and change," said Pisano. "This is an exciting time for the organization, and I look forward to building both LearnLaunch's impact and its capacity to help our portfolio companies achieve their objectives."
