Every year, as much as 40 percent of all Weinberg Foundation funding remains within Maryland benefitting, in particular, the greater Baltimore metropolitan area.
"The Annual Community Gathering celebrates more than the Weinberg Foundation's mission and work," said Rachel Garbow Monroe, Weinberg Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer. "This event recognizes all of the Foundation's many partners and grantees who have engaged with us in powerful ways to make our communities better and stronger. Most importantly, this day honors the legacy of caring established by Harry and Jeanette Weinberg."
Since 1980, the Foundation has distributed grants totaling $1.8 billion. Foundation grants are allocated through six program areas and are focused on meeting basic needs such as shelter, nutrition, health, and socialization and on enhancing an individual's ability to meet those needs. Additionally, the Foundation's grantmaking emphasizes serving older adults and the Jewish community.
