App Your Car UG has created AppYourCar, a new convergence of technology that incorporates a driver's favorite everyday apps, Bluetooth technology, a steering wheel control and wireless charging capability to create the safest and most advanced car infotainment system for any vehicle on the road today.
Put simply, AppYourCar uses your apps and your smartphone in your car to give you unprecedented access to car/smartphone integration.
AppYourCar provides a safe and affordable way for drivers to use their favorite apps without having to take their eyes off the road or their hands off the steering wheel.
At the heart of the AppYourCar system is a small, wireless Bluetooth remote control, which can be clipped onto any steering wheel. This, combined with a smartphone mounting that can be placed on the dashboard, charges the phone wirelessly.
AppYourCar's Wireless Bluetooth Controller is designed to integrate perfectly with the steering wheel and its patent pending technology gives drivers the same unrestricted access to their smartphone as if they would use the phone's touchscreen by hand.
According to App Your Car CEO Antonius Dalezios, "Drivers have long wanted to integrate their smartphones with their cars. In many cases, car manufacturers have stepped up to the challenge, but the fact remains that today, consumers have limited, unruly and unsafe options available to them for integrating their existing cars. In the case of new cars, consumers have to buy their car according to the phone they use, and that shouldn't be the case."
He added, "AppYourCar was designed for drivers of any car. People want to use interfaces they're familiar with at home, in the car and in daily life and we've incorporated that desire into AppYourCar."
What separates AppYourCar from all other existing systems is that it allows you to listen to your music, make phone calls, access information and have SMSs be read out loud, and owners can use their favorite apps including WhatsApp, Skype, Calendar or e-mail, all without having to take their eyes off the road or their hands off the steering wheel.
Four young German entrepreneurs developed AppYourCar. Two brothers, Harald and Antonius Dalezios, came up with the idea about a year ago.
"We were asking ourselves whether there might be an alternative or maybe even a better solution to the already existing, expensive car makers' infotainment-systems, which can cost up to several thousand dollars. That's how we came up with using the smartphone itself as a display, while navigating through it with a Bluetooth controller," said Dalezios.
Orders and contributions are currently being taken for AppYourCar on Indiegogo for Android and iOS phones, with a discounted price of $99. The full retail package consisting of a controller, mounting and app will be available for $179. Shipping is slated for May 2015.
It's been an exciting few weeks for AppYourCar. In addition to kicking off their Indiegogo campaign, last week, Atooma announced the release of an AppYourCar plugin for users to set up a few buttons from the AppYourCar controller as inputs for Atooma automatic rules, creating an even more customizable and automated driving experience.
