SAN DIEGO, Calif., Dec. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Magma, a producer of expansion computing solutions, today announced the release of the ExpressBox 2400 Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) expansion system. The EB2400 release comes on the heals of the EB3400 release and adds depth to their compact 7 slot expansion chassis product line. The EB2400 comes in the same small, 4U 8.5 inches wide, chassis as the EB3400, and instead offers a PCIe Gen 2 backplane and connection to the host.
Magma also designed the EB2400 for its client network in defense, aerospace, and the music and entertainment industry. However, the Gen 2 backplane and connection will see more applications in performance I/O rather than GPUs or high speed storage. The EB2400's size will let application integrators put I/O into incredibly small spaces where rack space is becoming increasingly valuable.
"The EB2400 is the Gen 2 version of our EB3400, a product line that is specifically designed for application modularity," said Tim Miller, President of Magma. "We see our compact 7 slot chassis being paired with each other in different rack configurations, mixing high performance computing with high performance I/O."
The EB2400 is available for purchase beginning today. Consult a Magma representative about pairing the EB2400 with the EB3400 for custom configurations. Customers placing orders for the product can expect delivery within three to four weeks of their order date. Visit magma.com for more details.
The EB2400 can accept 7 full-length, full-height PCIe cards x16 mechanical and x8 electrical. Cooling the EB2400 are (2) 92mm x 92mm x 25mm fans, while power is supplied through an internal 520 watt power supply. The system supports Mac OS, Windows, Linux, and Solaris operating systems. The EB2400 enclosure is 16.5 inches long, 8.5 inches wide, and 7.25 inches tall.
