NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 15, 2014) - KEMP Technologies just announced that its LoadMaster™ line of products now includes technology support for Federal Identity Smart Cards, including the PIV (Personal Identity Verification), the DoD CAC (Common Access Card), and the TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). KEMP is the only ADC/load balancer provider that offers this type of smart card support for hardware, virtual, cloud and bare-metal platforms.
Smart cards are used for identification of active duty military personnel, selected reserve, US Department of Defense (DoD) civilian employees and eligible contractor personnel. In addition to providing physical access to buildings and protected areas, it also allows access to DoD computer networks and systems satisfying two factor authentication, digital security and data encryption. It leverages a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Security Certificate to verify a cardholder's identity prior to allowing access to protected resources.
"KEMP is committed to providing the sophisticated technologies required to support the efforts of the US Government and Department of Defense, while delivering substantial value when compared to alternative competitive offerings," stated KEMP CMO and co-founder Peter Melerud.
KEMP's LoadMaster™ Load Balancer ADC natively provides a range of integrated security capabilities including edge security, Layer 7 IPS/IDS, DDoS mitigation, application publishing, client authentication and single sign-on -- all included as standard features on KEMP's entire range of ADCs. With the release of KEMP's "Application Firewall Pack" (AFP), KEMP is now delivering comprehensive Web Application Firewall (WAF) protection. Based on one of the world's most widely deployed Open Source web application firewall engine, ModSecurity, and augmented by threat intelligence, research and security rule sets from information security provider Trustwave, KEMP's AFP capabilities provide real-time threat protection for packaged and custom published applications, data leak prevention (DLP), mitigation of the OWASP Top Ten most common vulnerabilities and support for PCI-DSS compliance.
