Redwood City, Dec. 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, announced today that Informatica has broadened its partnership with Tableau Software, a global leader in easy-to-use business analytics software, to expand the reach of Informatica Rev, Informatica's Cloud Data Preparation product. The expansion of the Informatica and Tableau relationship will allow both companies to deliver greater value to a broad set of business users in the area of self-service analytics.
Informatica Rev, formerly codenamed Project Springbok, has achieved rapid adoption since its general availability was announced on September 30, 2014. The latest release offers many new capabilities for business users to simply merge data from multiple sources, including spreadsheets, and prepare it for analysis.
For many years, traditional business intelligence, along together with data integration, delivered an IT-centric solution for better decision making. Today with greater dependency on data, business users are insisting on more self-service solutions. The rapid uptake of self-service business intelligence is fueling an emerging high-growth new opportunity to deliver self-service data integration. In 2014 Constellation Research estimated that there will be a $1.43 billion data preparation market by 2017 and then a $2.03 billion market by 2020. Informatica leverages more than $2 billion invested in innovation of data integration and data quality to deliver a solution that is targeted specifically at business users.
More than 3,500 users from 800 plus organizations are already using the freemium version of Informatica Rev, which is a spreadsheet-like interface combined with a powerful recommendation engine, that provides business users with intelligent guidance on combining, preparing and cleansing data. Informatica Rev offers an intuitive user experience optimized for business users to bring together data for business decision making in visualization tools such as Tableau. Informatica's offering is unique in that business users can seamlessly operationalize any work that needs to be handed off to IT.
