Meccanoid G15 KS wows the crowd, takes home top prize at Living in Digital Times' Last Gadget Standing Showdown at 2015 International CES(R)

Meccano is back in a big way as new personal robot wins multiple awards at 2015 International CES(R)

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Spin Master Ltd., a global leader and one of the top five U.S. toy manufacturers*, is thrilled to be adding more awards to its trophy case as its newly-announced Meccanoid G15 KS personal robot has won the audience award at the Living in Digital Times' Last Gadget Standing Showdown at 2015 International CES®. The awards took place on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Meccanoid G15 KS, the latest offering from Spin Master's iconic Meccano brand (known as Erector in the United States), prevailed out of a field of nine other gadgets in the audience category, with the award decided by use of an applause-o-meter, used to measure audience enthusiasm.

"The public has spoken loud and clear, and it's obvious that they love the Meccanoid as much as we do," says Ben Gadbois, Global President for Spin Master Ltd. "Needless to say, we are beyond excited by the level of enthusiasm there is for the Meccanoid and the Last Gadget Standing award is a huge validation for the amount of creativity and innovation that went into our robot. Based on the hundreds of photos taken at the conference and press articles written about the Meccanoid already, it is clear that Spin Master has yet another big winner on our hands."

The Meccanoid G15 KS is an advanced yet easy to use open source Robotic Building platform, making it accessible to builders covering a broad range of ages and skill sets with motion control programming powered by Extreme Reality (www.xtr3d.com). At CES, Meccanoid was also awarded the Geek Beat TV Robotics award as the editor's top pick in the robotics category.

The next chapter of the Meccano story, the Meccanoid G15 KS will help demonstrate that Meccano is the only brand that combines real life engineering, technology, tools, and materials to build, create, and stretch kids' imaginations, allowing them to learn while having fun.
