SEATTLE, Jan. 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Poised for expansion in 2015, programming boot camp Coding Dojo today announces 29-year-old former tech startup executive Richard Wang as CEO and a move to larger campuses in Bellevue, WA and San Jose, CA. Founded in 2010, Coding Dojo plans to open new dojos in Southern California and the Philippines in Q1 and Q2 of 2015.
There has been an explosion of programming boot camps from two in 2010 to 48 nationwide in 2014. Boot camps offer a great way for college graduates, millennials, women and minorities to land a tech job, and/or professionals looking to reinvent their careers. A recent survey of boot camps by Course Report found that three-quarters of graduates are employed and are making an average of 44% more than their pre-boot camp pay, with an average salary of $76,000.
Indeed, 92% of students who complete the course as Coding Dojo "Black Belts" get a job within 60 days of graduating; while graduates like AJ Agrawal used Coding Dojo as the backbone to start his own company.
Coding Dojo offers a 12-week immersive web development boot camp (no prior Computer Science experience required) at its campuses or through online courses. Unlike the numerous other coding programs who teach one language per program, Coding Dojo teaches three programming languages as well as skills such as domain hosting, web security, web scaling, etc., that the company feels better positions graduates to land a job.
Coding Dojo programs range from $10,000 to $12,500 (scholarships available). This compares favorably to SAT/college prep programs for teens which can cost as much as $10,000, for-profit colleges who've been deemed as "expensive dropout factories," and community colleges failing to achieve graduation rates above even 50% (only 31%).
