DANBURY, Conn., Jan. 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Building on the tremendous success of its first foray into modern art, Ethan Allen has added new works from Henri Matisse to its recently introduced Modern Masters Collection. Also added to the company's modern art offerings were works from Matisse's great-granddaughter Sophie, who is a renowned artist in her own right. With the sold-out Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs exhibition now at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, this truly is the season of Matisse, and thanks to Ethan Allen, the distance between great art museums and people's homes has never been shorter.

"We are so pleased to introduce new works from the Matisse family," said Farooq Kathwari, CEO of Ethan Allen. "We knew the modern art would resonate with our customers when we introduced the Modern Masters Collection this past June, and in fact, have seen many of the pieces sell out already. I'm sure the additions to the collection will become as well regarded."
The eight lithographs from Henri Matisse bring the number of his works in the Modern Masters Collection to ten. Like all works in the Modern Masters Collection, these new pieces each come with a certificate of provenance. Prices range from $759 to $1139.
All five Sophie Matisse works are exclusive, limited-edition prints, silk-screened onto deckle-edge pure cotton rag paper handmade in England by master craftspeople. Signed and numbered by the artist, each piece is mounted by hand in a black lacquer wood frame with a distressed silver fillet and an off-white archival mat. Each work measures 33.75"w x 30"h framed and retails for $1999.
Every piece in the Modern Masters Collection is framed by hand, using acid-free materials and conservation-quality, UV-filtering glass, in Ethan Allen's own work rooms in the United States. The works may be viewed and purchased online at ethanallen.com and at any Ethan Allen Design Center, where the collection may be viewed on touchscreens.
