Road Scholar Introduces New 2015 Learning Adventures That Feature Small Towns, Cultural Immersion and Summer Camps

BOSTON, Jan. 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In 2015, as Road Scholar kicks off its 40th Anniversary, it also kicks off a year of innovative new learning adventures for Baby Boomers and beyond. The not-for-profit leader in educational travel celebrates 40 years of learning and friendship on its programs and continues its tradition of creating high-quality learning experiences for adults. This year, Road Scholar introduces new program series My Hometown, Living and Learning and Summer Sessions, as well as new programs in Detroit, Ethiopia and more.

My Hometown

Road Scholar's My Hometown series focuses on hometown America, an extraordinary week of learning and discovery of the people and charms in each of eight welcoming towns across the U.S. From Macon, Ga. to Carmel Valley, Calif., participants will explore each community's history and culture, meeting local leaders, musicians, teachers or artists, and learning what makes the town tick. Living and Learning

Living and Learning programs present opportunities to live like a local in multi-week language immersion experiences. With initial programs in Paris and Florence taking place this spring, Road Scholar has expanded its offerings to Buenos Aires, Montreal, Seville and Havana – a unique opportunity to discover present-day Cuba. Programs range from three to six weeks and offer a rich, in-depth cultural exchange and an opportunity for participants to live abroad for an extended period of time in a supported yet highly flexible and independent way. Summer Sessions

Many Road Scholar grandparents began a tradition of sharing a lifelong learning experience with their young grandchildren. Road Scholar's new Summer Sessions — learning adventures for college-age grandchildren — offer the opportunity to share those same special experiences between grandchildren and grandparents. Programs combine the adventure of an Intergenerational experience and tailor it for grandparents and their adult grandchildren. Camp Road Scholar
