SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GainSpan® Corporation, a leader in low-power Wi-Fi for the Internet of Things (IoT), announced that its ultra-low power GS2100M Wi-Fi module has passed certification in Korea and received the KC (Korea Certification) mark. The KC mark means the product has met EMC testing and certification requirements in South Korea.
The GS2100M module is now certified by all major regulatory agencies in the U.S. (FCC), Canada (IC), Europe (ETSI R &TTE), Japan (TELEC) and Korea (KC). Certification by these agencies ensures that the GS2100M module complies with the essential performance, safety and environmental requirements set by laws around the world. In addition to regulatory certifications, the module is Wi-Fi certified.
"Now, customers developing IoT projects for the Korean as well as worldwide markets, can use our pre-certified modules and not only reduce development time, but also save time and money that they would have had to spend for testing and certification," said Bernard Aboussouan, vice president of marketing, GainSpan.
The GS2100M module provides a quick, easy and cost effective way for device and appliance manufacturers to add Wi-Fi connectivity to their products. The module interfaces with an 8/16/32-bit microcontroller through UART, or high speed SPI or SDIO interfaces. The module provides a full REST firmware solution, Over-the-Air firmware upgrades and multiple provisioning options. The GS2100M module is available in two options: PCB antenna on the module (GS2100MIP) or U.FL connector to mount an external antenna (GS2100MIE).
Intended for smart energy and sensor applications, the GS2100M module has 3 high bit-rate sigma-delta ADCs for high-resolution sensor and measurement devices.
