SAN DIEGO, Feb. 3, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverge Inc., the leading provider of demand management solutions for electric utilities, today announced it has extended its partnership with Entergy Arkansas (EAI) through 2015. Under the terms of the agreement, Comverge will continue to manage the fully outsourced, pay-for-performance demand response program on behalf of Entergy Arkansas. Launched in 2012, the Entergy Arkansas program called Summer Advantage will be supported by an integrated suite of Comverge hardware and software solutions, including the Comverge IntelliSOURCE enterprise software platform and IntelliPEAK load control switches. Entergy Arkansas extended its contract with Comverge after meeting and exceeding its original enrollment goal of 15 megawatts (MW) by 10 MW.
"We are proud to offer fully outsourced, pay-for-performance that take the risk and complexity out of executing mass-market demand management programs and leverage our best practices gathered from years of experience deploying similar programs," said Steve Hambric, Vice President Strategic Sales and Operations, Comverge. "Over the last three years, we have helped Entergy Arkansas meet and exceed its demand management and energy efficiency goals by recruiting more than 25 MW of load into its program. It is great to have the opportunity to build on that success by extending our agreement with the Entergy Arkansas team."
Entergy Arkansas provides electricity to more than 692,000 customers in 63 counties across the state of Arkansas. It is a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation, which is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. The second-largest nuclear generator in the United States, Entergy Arkansas owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 MW of electric generating capacity.
EAI selected Comverge in 2012 to support its corporate-wide demand management and energy efficiency goals, which included providing 15 MW of capacity to electricity customers in Entergy Arkansas' service area. Since 2012, Comverge has helped Entergy Arkansas exceed its enrollment goals for the pay-for-performance program by recruiting more than 18,000 customers.
