JDSU Helps British Telecom Deliver IPTV to Broadband Customers

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 9, 2015) - JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU) today announced that it has been selected by BT to help ensure the reliable delivery of BT Sport channels over its internet protocol television (IPTV) service. BT will upgrade its existing JDSU xDSL test system by adding the IPTV option that performs centralized delivery, maintenance and troubleshooting of multicast services for broadband customers.

The explosion of broadband video delivered live over a variety of networks -- including mobile networks -- makes network planning and engineering a challenge. It is difficult to meet the high-bandwidth demands required to transport video services. The dynamic nature of video flows is affected by viewing habits, channel changing loads, and customer requests (such as video on demand, or VOD). In addition, disruption of live events leads to customer dissatisfaction and the potential for customer churn. 

To ensure proper service delivery, the proactive measurement and monitoring of the accumulated effects of video carried over the network is critical. The JDSU xDSL and Triple-Play test solutions provide on-demand, active channel test for the turn-up and management of BT services at the customer edge.
