CUTA Launches "Let's Move" Campaign in Advance of 2015 Election

The Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) is proud to announce the launch of lets-move.ca, a mobilization and advocacy tool designed for transit supporters across Canada.

"Every year, the economy loses billions of dollars in productivity because Canadians are stuck in traffic," Michael Roschlau, CUTA's President and CEO, commented at the launch of lets-move.ca. "Public transit is the only long term solution to the growing traffic problems in our cities. Imagine what you could do if you spent less time commuting and more time at your destination," he added. "Furthermore, public transit is an affordable, environmentally friendly and convenient way for the students, seniors and workers in our lives to get to all types of destinations. But we aren't telling Canadians something they don't already know, and value. Recent opinion polling suggests that 95% of Canadians believe public transit is important to their community. Our mission is to let the federal political parties and the local candidates know that public transit matters and we want to hear what they plan to do to resolve this critical infrastructure issue."

Lets-move.ca addresses effective advocacy, federal public transit issues and hosts a collection of resources for transit supporters. The Act Now! section of the website is a form letter, where users can let their Member of Parliament know that transit is important and should be addressed in the upcoming election.

"We hope to create a conversation around public transit by mobilizing supporters through the Act Now! component of the website. Translating Canadians' inherent support for transit into concrete action will help ensure public transit is a policy priority for all political parties," Roschlau said.
