Four upcoming track meets to take place on Mondo tracks

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Feb. 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Track and field athletes at four upcoming indoor meets in four different states will have one thing in common: they will be competing on tracks made by Mondo, the global leader in the track and field, indoor sport and contract flooring markets.

The first contest, the Tyson Invitational, Feb. 13-14, will be at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, while the second one, the University of New Mexico Don Kirby Elite Invitational, also Feb. 13-14, will take place at the Albuquerque (New Mexico) Convention Center.

The third competition, the NYRR Millrose Games, Feb. 14, is at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the famous 168th Street Armory Youth Center in New York City.

All three of these meets will be run on tracks with Mondo's Super X Performance surface. The six-lane, 200-meter tracks have two curved sections that are banked for high-speed running events, allowing athletes to safely maximize their speed and performance on the curves instead of decelerating, which they must do on flat surfaces.

The fourth meet, the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, Feb. 16-17, will be at the Birmingham (Alabama) CrossPlex which features a six-lane, 200-meter Mondo hydraulic banked track with a Mondotrack surface. A hydraulic system raises and lowers the curved sections, and when lowered, the track is flush with the surrounding surfaces for other sports or activity use. Mondo makes the world's only hydraulic banked 200-meter indoor competition track system.

In 2013, the Birmingham CrossPlex was honored for excellence in sports construction by the American Sports Builders Association. The facility won in the Distinguished Track Facilities: Indoor Track Facility category as well as Indoor Track Facility of the Year.

About Mondo's Tracks

The world's top track for more than 30 years, the renowned Super X Performance track is recognized around the world as one of the fastest, most durable and environmentally safest tracks available. An official track surface of eight Olympic Games through 2004 and the competition track from 1992 to 2004, Super X Performance was designed to provide consistent performance throughout its life. Ideal for both training and high-performance competition, the track is renowned for its shock absorption and optimal energy return, and its ideal blend of speed and comfort minimizes the occurrence of injuries.

The competition track of the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games, Mondotrack builds on the success of the Super X Performance track. Designed for superior athletic performance, Mondotrack provides optimal traction and a greater contact area than other tracks. It converts the maximum amount of force generated by athletes' foot strikes to energy for maximum energy return, which helps athletes achieve faster times compared to running on other surfaces.

More than 250 world records have been set on tracks made by Mondo.
