Ornim Medical Announces Groundbreaking Results Validating Benefit of Real-Time Noninvasive Monitoring With c-FLOW(TM) in Restoring Brain Blood Flow in Acute Stroke Patients

KFAR SABA, ISRAEL--(Marketwired - Feb 17, 2015) - Ornim Medical, Inc., a biomedical technology company pioneering noninvasive patient monitoring solutions for cerebral and tissue blood flow, announced today new findings showing that restoration of brain blood flow can be validated noninvasively with the use of the c-FLOW™ cerebral blood flow monitor in acute stroke patients. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Chattanooga and Erlanger Health, was presented at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Cerebrovascular Section Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

Specifically, the researchers found the c-FLOW monitor demonstrated the exact time when cerebral blood flow was reestablished and hemispheric asymmetries of flow normalized, allowing clinicians to determine if the approach in care or therapy was immediately effective.

"This groundbreaking finding means that for the first time, physicians can use noninvasive technology to identify the immediate effectiveness of their revascularization strategies and know instantly when and if the therapy has worked to reperfuse the microvasculature," said Thomas Devlin, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Chattanooga Center for Neurologic Research and Chief of the Division of Neurology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga and lead of the study.

As the only standalone and noninvasive cerebral blood flow monitor that provides results in real-time, the c-FLOW monitor continuously tracked each patient's blood flow by the bedside. All patients were monitored by the device starting in the Emergency Department and transitioning to the catheterization suite. Additionally, patients were treated according to standard of care with intravenous recombinant tissue-plasminogen activator (r-tPA, Alteplase), and also underwent percutaneous recanalization with a variety of clot extraction tools.

"These unprecedented results indicate the c-FLOW cerebral blood flow monitor can provide a significant clinical benefit in stroke patients and other patients requiring brain perfusion monitoring. It provides us with an innovative, noninvasive tool to help minimize treatment complications and improve patient outcomes," added Dr. Devlin.

The c-FLOW™ cerebral blood flow monitor is the latest device introduced by Ornim Medical. The monitor provides physicians with real-time data enabling the personalization of therapy for patients with acute ischemic stroke and other forms of brain injury. About Ornim Medical
Ornim Medical is a biomedical technology company specializing in research, development, and marketing of the highest quality monitoring devices for cerebral perfusion. Its product, the c-FLOW™, is based on the patented UTLight™ technology and can be used in most areas where cerebral blood flow needs to be monitored.

Ornim Medical provides physicians with the most advanced monitoring tools to help direct safe and decisive patient care when the perfusion of vital tissue is at stake. The use of the c-FLOW (depending on the clinical setting) provides physicians with critical information needed to understand perfusion, helping direct treatment and lower the cost of patient care.

Ornim Medical's patented UTLight technology employs the combination of light and ultrasound to provide a noninvasive measure of blood flow. UTLight technology is unique among all other commercially available NIRS technologies, since it also analyzes the light speckle signal and does not rely solely on the intensity of light reaching the detector.

Ornim Medical's unique technology is protected by 15 granted worldwide patents.
