Radware's Attack Mitigation System Selected by BlackMesh - Provides Customers Protection Against DDoS Without Impacting Legitimate Traffic

Leading Cloud Hosting Company to offer DDoS Protection as a Service

MAHWAH, N.J., Feb. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Radware® (Nasdaq:RDWR), a leading provider of application delivery and application security solutions for virtual and cloud data centers, announced BlackMesh, a Virginia based cloud hosting company that specializes in Drupal (CMS) hosting and managed server hosting has selected Radware's Attack Mitigation System which includes DefensePro® as the core product, to provide distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection as a service to its clients.

As a provider of information technology solutions for businesses of all industries and sizes, BlackMesh services more than 500 customers in North America through its three highly-secure datacenters located in Virginia, Nevada, and Ontario. Finding itself in a reactive role when it came to DDoS prevention, BlackMesh implemented various tools and techniques to repel attacks such as access control lists, null routing and cache filtering. Despite these efforts, they still experienced service degradation as well as downtime that lasted between 45-60 minutes during each cyber-attack.

"We needed to shift to a more proactive stance when it came to protecting our datacenter which ultimately impacts our clients and the way we do business," says Jason Ford, chief technology officer of BlackMesh. "Just a few minutes of downtime from an attack can negatively affect our SLAs. To ensure that our clients receive uninterrupted availability each and every time, we had to implement the right solution for our datacenter."

Ultimately, BlackMesh selected Radware to help protect its network segments of customer solutions for intrusions and DDoS attacks. Radware's Attack Mitigation System consists of patent protected behavioral based real-time signatures technology that detects and mitigates emerging network attacks all without the need for human intervention and without blocking legitimate user traffic.

BlackMesh's customers will also benefit from Radware's world-class security that fully protects applications and networks against known and emerging network security threats such as Internet pipe saturation, attacks on login pages, attacks behind CDNs, and SSL-based flood attacks.

"When normal datacenter operations are disrupted by a cyber-attack, typically a multi-vector campaign was deployed by the hacker to hit every layer of the IT infrastructure," says David Hobbs, director of security solutions for Radware. "Traditional methods of protection and mitigation are no longer effective against these types of attacks. Radware can help BlackMesh maintain business continuity of operations even while under attack."

"We experienced two different types of flood attacks that totaled 1.3Gbps in size and mitigated those attacks with ease," added Ford. "Since then, we've seen several floods as well as HTTP attacks, and have been able to maintain our network performance while mitigating these threats. The ability to guarantee SLA has provided a value-added benefit to our clients."

To help monitor Radware devices throughout its multiple datacenters, BlackMesh implemented APSolute Vision® which provides a single point of access to centrally manage their security network through an enterprise-wide view of security and attack statuses from a single console.

Also available to BlackMesh is Radware's Emergency Response Team (ERT) service. Designed to provide 24x7 security services should they face a denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, and need expert assistance with restoring network and service operational status.
