OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Feb. 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Board of Directors of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) www.acbsp.org has announced that Jeffrey Alderman has been appointed Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the organization effective February 2, 2015. Alderman succeeds Douglas Viehland, who held the position since 2003.
Alderman brings a wealth of association experience and business acumen to his new post. His responsibilities will include working alongside the Board and a global network of members, volunteers, and staff as ACBSP continues to position itself as a leader of specialized accreditation for business education programs throughout the world.

Prior to joining ACBSP, Alderman served as vice president of the Kansas City Kansas Chamber of Commerce overseeing business development for the Chamber by working with small to large scale businesses on consulting, branding, and marketing initiatives. A sampling of member companies includes General Motors, Kansas Speedway, Sporting Kansas City, and The University of Kansas Medical Center.
In addition to his work at the Chamber, Alderman previously served eight years as executive director of the Kansas Bar Association (KBA), a 7,200-member statewide voluntary organization of lawyers, judges, and law students. At the KBA, the organization achieved numerous milestones including record membership and a dramatic expansion of its endowment. He worked closely with the Kansas Supreme Court on various issues facing the legal profession as well as administered the Court's Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program, which has granted millions of dollars to worthy charities.
Alderman also served as executive director of the Camden County (NJ) Bar Association from 1998-2004 and was assistant executive director of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association from 1990-1998. He was vice president for Visit Topeka, Inc. (VTI), a destination marketing organization where he led efforts to secure more than $60M in economic impact for the city in his two-year tenure. While at VTI, Jeffrey worked with numerous groups including sports governing bodies such as the NCAA, NAIA, and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Alderman received his bachelor's degree in written communications and economics from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. He has held leadership positions in various professional and charitable organizations including serving as president of the Lawrence (KS) affiliate of Habitat for Humanity where he helped lead the largest funding project in its history to construct an entire neighborhood of homes.
