Syringa Networks Quickly Delivers Internet Access to an Idaho School District

BOISE, Idaho, Feb. 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In its continuing show of support for Idaho's educators and students, Syringa Networks, LLC announced today that it is now providing Internet Access service for the McCall-Donnelly School district.  McCall-Donnelly is the first among a number of schools that have turned to the company in light of the State's recent ruling on February 16th.  That ruling called for Idaho schools to seek out their own solutions for internet access and other services dependent upon their respective broadband connections.

McCall-Donnelly School District's Matt Cavallin contacted Syringa Networks after the ruling was announced. "Once we heard that our main broadband connection might be shut down, I knew we needed to do something right away.  Last week, I contacted Syringa Networks and several other providers to receive bids for Internet services. Syringa had the best price, and today we have a 100MB internet connection up and running smoothly.  That's an extremely quick turnaround for something like this."

As the Technology Director, Mr. Cavallin is not alone in the scramble to determine the right internet access service for his district. Many schools have been considering their options since the Idaho Education Network (IEN) contract was deemed to be null and void back in November 2014.  That verdict eventually led to the legislative ruling on February 16th.

"I am pleased that we were able to keep McCall-Donnelly's Internet Access up and running while dramatically lowering costs for the district," said Greg Lowe, CEO of Syringa Networks. "As we have said all along, Syringa Networks is an Idaho company committed to supporting Idaho schools with best-in-class broadband solutions.  Whether it's CIPA compliant Internet Access or connectivity for Distance Learning, we are well positioned to serve the schools – both now and in the future."

In the meantime, the company has responded to the State's recent Request for Information (RFI), which is a precursor to the formal Request for Proposal (RFP) that will likely be distributed early this summer.  "I was encouraged by the RFI, and the State's willingness to broaden its perspective on how to administer the IEN. We submitted a number of very pragmatic and cost effective recommendations, and look forward to the ongoing discussion," said Lowe.
