WEST WINDSOR, N.J., March 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Chef Jeff Malloy of Boston's popular and critically acclaimed Carmen restaurant, located in the competitive "North End" Italian district, has opened an authentic Italian restaurant called Il Forno Café & Trattoria in West Windsor, New Jersey. Just minutes outside of Princeton tucked in West Windsor Village at 358 Princeton Highstown Road, the current BYOB establishment provides a "Prohibition List" of non-alcoholic custom-made drinks and serves lunch and dinner six days a week.
Nicknamed "Chef Jeff" by his staff and many of his friends, Chef Malloy is passionate about his craft and menu, as he brings over 20 years of outstanding culinary expertise. Chef Malloy holds accolades from a Zagat rated restaurant 27/30, Boston Magazine's 5 - Time "Best Of Boston," Top 5 Italian Restaurant in Boston & Top Food and Top Romantic Restaurant.
"Although I have to divide my time between West Windsor and Boston, I did it for love," said Chef Malloy, who co-owns the new restaurant with girlfriend, Melissa Virgilio. "Once here, I quickly realized that there was nothing like this in the Princeton area. I wanted to give people a taste of true Italian food at reasonable prices while still providing a white table cloth atmosphere," he said, while elaborating on the reasons behind selecting West Windsor for his next restaurant location.
During his training years, Chef Malloy spent years traveling well-known Italian destinations like the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany to name a few, while eating and cooking with the locals. Il Forno is a reflection of his experience given pasta and pizzas are not the primary items on the menu like many cliché American Italian restaurants.
"If someone is looking for a place to go to order a gigantic pizza to share with friends or family, this isn't their place," Chef Malloy stated. "However, I invite anyone who wants to try our delicious Neapolitan pizza as an appetizer or salad, followed by a delicate fish dish or meat selection and end with a frothy cappuccino and succulent dessert -- that's more like a true Italian meal."
