NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Mar 25, 2015) - Fiverr, the world's largest marketplace for creative and professional services, has teamed with Code/Interactive (C/I), Ad Age, Creativity and Internet Week for a contest challenging the design and creative communities to craft and submit compelling graphic ad campaigns that mirror C/I's mission to cultivate a new generation of diverse technology leaders.
Judges of the competition include civil rights leader and champion for diversity in tech Rev. Jesse Jackson; Van Jones, CNN contributor and co-founder of #YesWeCode; Kevin Brady, Executive Creative Director, Droga5; Jim Moriarty, Director of Brand Citizenship, 72andsunny; Dennis Crowley, CEO, Foursquare; Hank Williams, Founder, Platform.org; Jesse Juriga, Creative Director, Google Creative Lab; Allison Arden, VP/Publisher and Simon Dumenco, Editorial Director, both from Ad Age, Creativity and Internet Week, among others.
The winning submission and runners-up will be unveiled at Internet Week New York's headquarters in May 2015. Ad Age will publish a full-page feature on the winner, in time for the celebrated Cannes Creativity Festival, giving the winning designer international exposure.
As part of the contest, Fiverr will execute a major ad buy that will showcase the winning campaign across more than 300 New York City subway platforms city-wide, beginning in Summer 2015. This means millions of New Yorkers -- and the world -- will see the creative design around diversity in tech. The goal of the far-reaching Fiverr ad buy is to highlight C/I's powerful mission to foster a more diverse workforce in the technology industry.
"We know that technology can connect and empower people from all over the world to pursue their passions," said Micha Kaufman, Fiverr CEO. "This is why Fiverr chose to help C/I advance this important cause. When our coders and engineers are more diverse, innovation accelerates, and everyone benefits. The technology industry can and must open its arms wider to embrace talent."
"With connectivity, computer skills and a smart phone, a student from the South Bronx can compete on the same playing field as an Ivy League graduate or a coder from Asia," said Michael Denton, Executive Director of C/I. "C/I helps young people from underserved communities compete and win in the global workforce."
"Advancing STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and diversity in tech is among the most important issues facing our country," said Allison Arden, Publisher of Advertising Age and Managing Director of Internet Week. "We are delighted to help bring together the design and creative community to rally behind C/I and advance diversity in tech."
Based in The Bronx, C/I offers year-round programs that introduce diverse high school students from underserved communities to the creative power of technology by teaching them hard and soft tech and programming skills. C/I's programs provide hands-on training in today's most relevant technology subject areas, access to immediate job opportunities, and the building blocks for long-term career paths in technology and beyond.
