DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Apr 2, 2015) - The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is making plans for a nationwide "Stand Up 4 for Transportation Day" on Thursday, April 9, and RouteMatch Software is proud to be among a broad coalition of partners that will participate in events around the country.
The Stand Up 4 Transportation Day event is an opportunity to call attention to the importance of providing sustainable federal investment in our country's transportation infrastructure and the need for a long-term surface transportation bill. The current federal transportation legislation, known as MAP-21, expires on May31, 2015.
Through their national leadership along with many industry partners, APTA is encouraging local organizations and advocates who support public transportation and highway investment to participate in the Stand Up 4 Transportation Day events, which are being held while Congress is on recess. To date, more than 90 events have been organized in communities across the country. Participating organizations are undertaking many different events such as conducting press and social media activities, while calling on the need for greater federal transportation infrastructure investment.
"Stand Up for Transportation Day is a single day when all transportation organizations and their coalition partners unite in common purpose with a unified message," said APTA Chair Phillip Washington, who serves as general manager and chief executive officer of Denver's Regional Transportation District. "It's time to set aside partisanship and once again act in the best interest of our country to repair, strengthen and build transportation infrastructure."
RouteMatch Software is a proud transit industry partner and fully supports the Stand Up 4 Transportation Day. We call on the U.S. Congress to fully fund a sustainable, long-term federal transportation authorization beyond May 31st. To advocate for greater federal investment, RouteMatch will also participate and support events organized in Denver, CO, where the firm has a western U.S. office. RouteMatch also works closely with the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) as their provider of Intelligent Transportation Systems software and integrated platform solutions.
"We are great believers in the value of extending the transportation infrastructure nationally," says CEO Bahman Irvani. "The continued federal transportation investment commitment is critical for our nation's growth, the economy, and millions of people who depend on a solid infrastructure on a daily basis. Our firm is dedicated to working in partnership with organizations like APTA, Denver RTD, and many others to promote long-term investment in transit."
