MENLO PARK, Calif., April 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Marble Security today announced that it has tapped PaRaBaL, a mobile enterprise solutions provider based in Baltimore, as a value added reseller (VAR) of its AppHawk mobile threat intelligence platform and defense solution. PaRaBaL will target its existing enterprise mobile customer base as well as federal markets on the East Coast.
Enterprises face a greater threat from the millions of apps their employees casually use each day than from mobile malware. According to Gartner, through 2017, 75 percent of mobile security breaches will occur through apps rather than deep technical attacks on the OS1. Called 'riskware,' these seemingly harmless apps expose enterprise users to data leakage, credential theft and the exfiltration of private information used to target employees in precise, advanced attacks.
The newly released AppHawk service provides enterprises with comprehensive visibility into and protection against these malicious and privacy-leaking iOS and Android apps. AppHawk is powered by Marble Security's app analysis engine and database of more than 3.5 million analyzed apps from 500,000 publishers. Each app is scored against more than 1,000 potentially malicious and privacy-leaking behaviors to determine whether it is risky or safe. AppHawk complements and is integrated with leading mobile device management (MDM) solutions, providing an essential element of enterprise mobile security.
"PaRaBaL's enterprise mobility experts have studied AppHawk in our PaRaBaL MDM lab and have found it installs and integrates well with MDM solutions," said Peter Coddington, PaRaBaL CEO. "PaRaBaL is a 100 percent enterprise mobility solutions company, and we have a lot of experience bringing mobile software to market, especially in the areas of MDM, across a variety of vendors. AppHawk is positioned well to help the enterprise with the issue of mobile app security."
PaRaBaL's business objective is to enhance productivity in the workplace by incorporating mobile devices without sacrificing security posture. The company has produced world-class services and partnered with some of the best software companies in the world, creating a completely mobile-focused business.
"Peter and his team have great experience advising, placing, implementing and supporting the major MDM solutions in the market today," said Steve Ryan, SVP of Business Development, Marble Security. "Marble will leverage PaRaBaL's full capabilities as an AppHawk reseller and solutions provider for Marble's customers. We look forward to working together."
To continue its partner program expansion, Marble is also starting distribution in Australia and New Zealand as well as the U.K.

About AppHawk
Marble Security's AppHawk is a mobile threat intelligence and defense solution that works in conjunction with enterprise mobile device management (MDM), enterprise mobility management (EMM) and mobile security management (MSM) solutions to provide dynamic app threat detection and protection while ensuring employee privacy. It offers automated controls for malicious apps that leak sensitive corporate data, dynamically assesses threat levels and where data is sent and assures safety of BYOD program rollouts for iOS and Android. The easily configurable administrative console uses a dashboard to show the overall state of app security in mobile deployments, and the optional mobile client educates employees by showing if they've downloaded dangerous apps at a glance, advising on deletion and graphically mapping where in the world an app is sending their data.
