YouTuber Alli Speed and documentarian Celine Cousteau join with Contiki to create sustainability video for Earth Month.

The youth travel leader aims to use passion, expertise and influence to make sustainability more achievable, practical and relevant for young people.

Anaheim, Calif., April 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Contiki Cares, powered by the TreadRight Foundation, kicked off Earth Month with a suite of content created to assist young people in making responsible decisions when it comes to where they explore and what they eat, leading up to the release of a feature video, launching today on Earth Day, April 22nd.

Granddaughter of legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, TreadRight Foundation Ambassador Celine Cousteau is joined by YouTuber Alli Speed in the video to raise awareness of sustainability in young people.  The video was shot at the Duke of Cambridge in London, Britain's first and only certified organic pub.

"Contiki is excited to bring these two inspiring women together," says Casper Urhamer, Contiki's CEO. "With Celine's passion for sustainability and Alli's influence in youth audiences, we're hoping to stimulate a league of young people wto think and act more sustainably, both when they travel and at home."

In the video, the two women explore how sustainability can be overwhelming for young people, and how it can be affected by a perceived stigma of affluence, allowing people the opportunity to disregard its relevance.

"Traveling is a privilege as is the ability to make a choice as to what we consume," explains Cousteau. "
It is our responsibility to make informed decisions so thta our choices can have a positive impact on our planet."

Contiki has worked with Cousteau over the past four years on a number of Earth Month expeditions, last year taking a group of storytellers to the Sea Turtle Conservancy in Costa Rica.  Speed has shared her experiences traveling with Contiki over the past three years with her online audience of over half a million.

Content is available on www.contiki.com/contikicares and on Contiki's social media channels.  The video featuring Celine and Alli can be viewed on Contiki's YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/contiki) starting today, April 22.

Contiki has an insatiable appetite for discovering new things in every nook and cranny of the world.  To continue sharing our discoveries with young travelers for decades and centuries to come, we need to respect and protect those places through everything that we do.
