This new prime wide-angle 25mm is an autofocus lens designed for the Sony E-mount full-frame cameras, specifically the Alpha a7 series of cameras. It is also compatible with APS-C E-mount cameras with a corresponding 37.5mm focal-length equivalent. Its f/2 maximum aperture is effective in low light and enables shallow-depth-of-field focusing. Drawing on the Distagon optical design and housing 4 aspherical elements, imaging is sharp across the frame and its minimum focus distance of 7.8" allows this lens to be useful in a wide variety of shooting situations. A gorgeous all-metal barrel provides weather sealing for confident use in inclement weather, and a rubber manual focus ring enables precise control of focus placement. A unique feature is the OLED distance and depth-of-field display on the lens barrel.
Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 lens features
- E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
- Aperture Range: f/2 to f/22
- Distagon Optical Design
- Four Double-Sided Aspherical Elements
- Floating Elements System
- Zeiss T* Anti-Reflective Coating
- OLED Display for Focus Distance and DoF
- Linear Autofocus Motor
- Dust and Moisture-Resistant Construction
A compact, solid, and beautiful optic, the 85mm f/1.8 is a short telephoto lens, ideal for portraiture. Its extremely fast maximum aperture enables shallow-depth-of-field control and gorgeous out-of-focus highlights. Furthermore, optical image stabilization reduces the blur caused by camera shake for sharp imaging in low light. A linear autofocus motor, as well as manual focus ring, gives you options for accurate focusing and its minimum focus distance is just 2.6'. Like the Batis 25mm, an OLED screen provides illuminated distance and depth-of-field information, and the sleek all-metal barrel is dust and weather resistant. Designed for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras, it can also be used on APS-C E-mount cameras, providing a 35mm focal-length equivalence of 127.5mm.
Also announced are the dedicated optional lens hoods for the Batis 25mm f/2 and the Batis 85mm f/1.8 lenses.
