ROAD SCHOLAR LAUNCHES NEW EDUCATIONAL ADVENTURES IN THE MIDDLE EAST, AFRICA AND EASTERN EUROPE FOR THE TRULY ADVENTUROUS

BOSTON, April 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For 40 years, Road Scholar, the not-for-profit leader in lifelong learning, has offered adults the ability to experience remote, off-the-beaten-path destinations not normally accessible to ordinary travelers. Last year, the organization offered adventures to Iran, and for the past few years has enabled thousands of Americans to visit Cuba, a country that has been off-limits for close to 50 years.

This year, Road Scholar expanded its offerings to unique locations and launched several new educational adventures in Israel, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Ethiopia and Rwanda. In Israel, participants explore the best sections of the Israel National Trail, a 600-mile trail inspired by the Appalachian Trail that explores the Holy Land as well as the wilderness of Israel. In Ethiopia and Rwanda—two East African countries that many travelers find difficult to navigate on their own—participants learn more about the extraordinary human and natural history as well as visit UNESCO sites in search of wildlife. In Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia, participants will explore the musical history of Azerbaijan and in Armenia visit the home to what some say is a piece from Noah's Ark.

"We provide extraordinary learning adventures – more than 5,500 in 150 countries around the world," says James Moses, President and CEO of Road Scholar. "We offer highly academic experiences for curious people looking to learn about and deepen their understanding of the world through learning and travel."
