Q-Centrix and Illucient Purchasing Alliance, LLC Partner to Help Members Improve Quality and Reduce Costs

PORTSMOUTH, NH--(Marketwired - May 14, 2015) - Q-Centrix, the leader in surveillance, abstraction, analysis and performance improvement, has been chosen to partner with Illucient Purchasing Alliance, a new venture that comprises 23 healthcare systems and 43 member hospitals. Illucient was formed as a joint venture between the Coastal Carolinas Health Alliance (CCHA) and the Southern Atlantic Healthcare Alliance (SAHA) in January of 2015, and combines the purchasing power of the two alliances to maximize contract savings for their members.

"Illucient Purchasing Alliance was created with the goal of enabling members to pursue cost reduction opportunities while supporting quality," explained Derrick Billups, executive director of Illucient. "Our partnership with Q-Centrix will help Illucient achieve this goal. Members can outsource their data abstraction services which, in turn, enables them to both focus on their patients and maximize reimbursements."

The real-time and retrospective quality data abstraction services provided by Q-Centrix include national and local registries, concurrent review, infection control, and voluntary and required core measures. The process begins by assigning a team of Q-Centrix nurse-educated, quality information specialists. Once assigned, the team accesses key patient charts to document and validate distinct actions and outcomes by hospital staff. The validated measures and data are reviewed by the hospital and then reported to organizations and agencies throughout the country.

Q-Centrix signed the agreement with Illucient in February of this year. "We're happy Illucient selected us as a partner," said Q-Centrix CEO Milton Silva-Craig. "Our company's dedication to helping hospitals improve outcomes, become more efficient and lower costs perfectly aligns with what the Illucient alliance aims to achieve."

Two of Illucient's member hospitals are current Q-Centrix partners: Morehead Memorial Hospital, a not-for-profit community hospital located in Eden, North Carolina and Johnston Health, part of UNC Healthcare, located in Smithfield, North Carolina.

"Johnston Health has used Q-Centrix since January 2015 for registry abstraction," said Tracey Carson, administrative director of patient care. "The additional resources have allowed our internal team to concentrate on our patients and quality of care."

The terms of the agreement between Q-Centrix and Illucient were not disclosed.
