SAUGUS, MA--(Marketwired - May 28, 2015) - IonSense, Inc. today introduced the new DART-OS open air ionization source with the popular compact ACQUITY® QDa® Mass Detector. The combined product enables rapid testing of gas, liquid and solid samples with little or no sample prep. By avoiding the use of solvents this DART system can be deployed outside of the conventional chemical laboratory environment. Coupling the robust DART source, already used in hundreds of labs worldwide, with the reliable ACQUITY QDa Detector provides a valuable new tool for forensic investigations and product quality groups.
To facilitate the analysis process and increase robustness and speed, IonSense offers a number of sampling devices including its OpenSpot® Sample Cards for individual samples, the QuickStrip® Sample Strips for automated analysis of 12 samples, and its new Solid-Phase Micro -Extraction (SPME-DIP-it®) Fiber Kits for increasing the detectability of target compounds present in complex matrices. The system can also be operated with manual sample introduction and direct analysis of the solid samples or substrates.
"We saw the potential for an accessible, direct analysis compact mass detector and are pleased to extend our cooperation with IonSense and bring this new system to the market," said Gary Harland, Director of MS Product Management at Waters Corporation. Dr. Brian Musselman, IonSense CEO, added that, "we have many customers in government laboratories and regulatory agencies that need to address problems outside of the laboratory. This new system will enable them to obtain the same rapid identifications at various sites that they achieve in their laboratories."
IonSense will be exhibiting the new DART / ACQUITY QDa Detector in its Exhibition Booth #110 on Monday through Thursday. In the technical sessions of ASMS, DART-MS technology will be highlighted in a number of presentations addressing problems in forensics toxicology, food safety, and product quality.
