Travel to Belize, Cuba, Even Oz: Travel-Intel Highlights Why People Travel Where

Tours.com's Travel-Intel Spotlights New Research That Reveals What Motivates Today's Affluent Traveler

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - June 05, 2015) - New research from Collinson Group out of the U.K. reveals distinct motivations and attitudes about affluent travelers that go beyond traditional demographic and geographical boundaries. Today's middle and upper income consumers place a higher priority on family travel, altruism and enriching experiences and those values are placed well ahead of luxury items and short-term satisfaction.

Tours.com's Travel-Intel notes, not surprisingly, that most affluent consumers say their priority is to spend time with their families (72%), provide for their families (62%), and save for the future (64%), and almost a third prioritize giving back to the community and protecting the environment equally.

The research identifies four global "tribes" or groups of people, who share common traits that cut across age, gender and international boundaries -- and tend to think in discernable ways about their travel purchases, all detailed in the latest issue of Travel-Intel.

At the same time there is interest in where people are traveling these days and many are going to Sanctuary Belize and seeking out options for a vacation that turns into a permanent way of life. The issue looks at Belize as a popular destination and Sanctuary Belize as a desirable endpoint.

Hipmunk, a site for cool travel deals, ran its numbers for summer vacation 2015 so far and found what popular vacation spots may be the best deals this season and what areas may be robbing the wallet. According to the survey, top spots for splurges are places such as Napa Valley and Sonoma where rooms will average $338 per night, while the best summer travel deals can be found in Arizona and Miami. But sleepers, such as Breckenridge, Colorado, should not be missed -- great weather, stunning scenery, lots to do and lodging rates that run at more than 50 percent off winter season highs.

Where else are people traveling? The well-traveled may be heading for Australia where excursions on the True North, a 36-passenger luxury vessel, sails in seven- to 13-day ventures around the coast of Oz and onward to Papua New Guinea. The True North is run by North Star Cruises and is a member of the exclusive Kurtz-Ahlers collection of resorts and specialty travel.

Finally, Cuba is brought into focus with details on where Americans can go and what they need to know when heading to the controversial shores across the Florida Straits. Peru, too, is on many a bucket list and this week's issue of Travel-Intel talks about what to do and where to go in Machu Picchu, especially for first-timers to Peru.
