WOBURN, MA and CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 8, 2015) - Mass Innovation Nights is collaborating with Google, who will sponsor and host a special civic technology Mass Innovation Nights (MIN) on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. The 75th monthly event will be held at Google's offices in Cambridge (355 Main Street). Mass Innovation Nights are free monthly product showcase and networking events in the greater Boston area. To attend, please RSVP.
Presentations from this event will also be live streamed by the team at Google. This will make it easy for those interested in civic technology beyond the Greater Boston area. At 7:00 pm on the night of the event, you will be able to see presentations online here.
"Over the past six years, our community has helped support the launch of more than 750 new products," said Bobbie Carlton, Innovation Nights founder. "With this event, we will concentrate our efforts on products that can help our community and local government."
"Technology has transformed our day to day lives and reshaped how many industries operate," said Liz Schwab, public affairs manager at Google. "It's exciting to now see this happening in the civic space. We're just starting to scratch the surface of what's possible in civic technology and startups like these are helping to shape what that will look like."
The event will focus on the ways in which websites, apps, and other technology can help serve the Commonwealth and its citizens. Secretary of Housing and Economic Development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Jay Ash will be in attendance.
"Mass Innovation Nights and Google are helping explore new ways to harness that local ingenuity for the greater good," said Housing and Economic Development Secretary Ash. "The Commonwealth is fortunate to have a great entrepreneurial community to benefit from."
The event is free to attend, but attendees are encouraged to support local entrepreneurs by helping to spread the word about the cool new products they see, either through a blog post, a Tweet, a Facebook Like, or simply by talking to others about the products they see. A single event can generate hundreds of social media posts. Participating startups this month are:
- Vocoli
- SUNN
- WrightGrid
- Lig
- CampusTap
- PlayLocal
- JenytaMarket
- Bike Beacon
- FetchPark
- WeVoteProject
