MEMS Industry Group Tackles Common Challenges of MEMS, Sensor, Semiconductor Industries at SEMICON West 2015

PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwired - Jul 6, 2015) - MEMS Industry Group® (MIG), the trade association advancing micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and sensors across global markets, will examine the shared challenges of the MEMS, sensor and semiconductor industries, during a half-day workshop, July 15 at SEMICON West 2015. MIG teams with SEMI, the global industry association serving the nano- and microelectronic manufacturing supply chains, in hosting the workshop -- which culminates in small-group break-out sessions facilitated by industry experts.

"The MEMS, sensor and semiconductor industries have long been connected by a shared infrastructure and supply chain. And while there are significant differences in the manufacturing of MEMS and sensors -- including the use of unconventional materials, wafer bonding, packaging and lack of standard processes -- we face some of the same obstacles in realizing standardization, and in managing manufacturing, integration, packaging and testing," said Stephen Whalley, chief strategy officer, MEMS Industry Group.
