ATLANTA, July 21, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to the CDC, more babies are born in the late summer (July, August and September) than any other time of the year. On Thursday, July 23, Sharecare, a comprehensive digital health and wellness engagement platform, will host a Twitter chat on maternal and infant health from 12 to 3 p.m. ET. Using the hashtag #LetsTalkBabies, the chat will provide information on fertility, pregnancy and childbirth among many other topics relevant to expecting parents and those interested in healthy parenting.
“The March of Dimes is pleased to partner with Sharecare on this #LetsTalkBabies chat,” said Beverly Robertson, National Director of the Pregnancy & Newborn Health Education Center for March of Dimes. “Education is a major component in the mission of the Foundation and engaging women and men of childbearing age is key to achieving better outcomes. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.”
The #LetsTalkBabies Twitter chat will cover topics as follows:
12-1 pm: Before Pregnancy
This hour will focus on prenatal health. Topics addressed will include fertility issues, birth control and general women’s health.
1-2 pm: During Pregnancy
This hour will focus on what women can do for both their health and the health of the fetus during pregnancy. Topics addressed will include nutrition and fitness during pregnancy and what pregnant women can do to be ready - physically, mentally and emotionally - for delivery and bringing home baby.
2-3 pm: After Birth
This hour will focus on mother and baby health after birth. Topics addressed will include infant health, new mother health, and adoption and foster care options and expectations.
“Pregnancy and new parenthood is a joyous time – but there is also so much to learn and with that comes so many questions,” said Dr. Darria Long Gillespie, SVP of Clinical Strategy at Sharecare and emergency physician at Emory University Hospital. “I’m thrilled to be a part of Sharecare's Twitter Chat #LetsTalkBabies to help share information and support.”
