OSSTF/FEESO Members at Brock University Announce Strike Deadline

TORONTO,ON--(Marketwired - July 25, 2015) - Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) Brock University Support Staff members in District 35 at Brock University have set a strike deadline of August 10, 2015, unless an agreement can be reached between the Union and the University before that time.

The local negotiating team has been very disappointed with the lack of progress over the last two months which is responsible for the decision to set the deadline.

"Fair agreements at other Universities in Ontario where OSSTF represents members have been achieved without the need for potential job action, and we expect our members at Brock to be treated with respect and have their concerns addressed in a meaningful way at the bargaining table," according to Harvey Bischof, Vice-President of OSSTF/FEESO and Chair of the negotiating team.

Norm Westbury, President of OSSTF/FEESO District 35, Brock University Support Staff said, "We deserve a fair agreement which respects our members, addresses our key concerns and demonstrates the important role our members play in the operation and success of the University. Unless things change at the bargaining table in the next few weeks our members are ready, willing and able to back up our demands by taking job action."

The Union has indicated to the University its commitment to continue talks up to and including August 10^th.

OSSTF/FEESO, founded in 1919, has 60,000 members across Ontario. They include public high school teachers, occasional teachers, educational assistants, continuing education teachers and instructors, early childhood educators, psychologists, secretaries, speech- language pathologists, social workers, plant support personnel, university support staff, and many others in education.
