Long Pond, PA, Aug. 3, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Responsible fans earned valuable rewards at Sunday's Windows 10 400 at Pocono Raceway. The track, NASCAR, Coors Light and Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Coalition partnered to promote responsible drinking and traffic safety at Pocono Raceway.
181 fans made the pledge to be the designated driver for their group. All of them had the opportunity to receive a free souvenir photo, instant prizes and a chance to be selected as the Designated Driver for the race. One randomly selected, responsible fan will win the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes. The grand prize includes two tickets and two VIP experiences to the next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway.
The Designated Driver for the Race from the Axalta "We Paint Winners" 400 at Pocono Raceway in June of 2015, Shaun Hall, received two tickets and two VIP Experiences to the Windows 10 400. Hall and his guest enjoyed a behind-the-scenes experience before the race on Sunday.
"The safety of our fans is a top priority," said Brandon Igdalsky, Pocono Raceway President/CEO. "We consider all race fans who visit 'The Tricky Triangle' as members of our extended Raceway Family. While they all hold a special place in our heart, we are especially proud of all the fans who pledged to be designated drivers today. We thank them for being responsible and for helping to get our 'family' members home safely after a great day at the track."
"We believe that with great beer comes great responsibility, and we're thrilled to partner with NASCAR, Pocono Raceway and TEAM Coalition to help promote responsibility at the track," said Diane Wagner, MillerCoors responsibility commerce manager. "For many legal drinking age fans, enjoying a beer on race day is part of the NASCAR experience, and we want to encourage fans to enjoy the race responsibly and plan ahead for a safe ride home from the track."
"NASCAR is committed to promoting responsible consumption at all of our races throughout the country. We want our fans to have a great time watching the best racing in the world and get home safely afterwards" said Jordan Jiloty, NASCAR director of public affairs. "Along with Pocono Raceway, Coors Light and TEAM Coalition, NASCAR congratulates those fans who have shown leadership in pledging to drink responsibly."
"The success of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign is a direct result of the commitment from our members and all the designated-driver program partners, including the tracks and beer companies," said Jill Pepper, executive director of TEAM Coalition. "Teamwork is what this campaign is all about. We are demonstrating that when everyone - including the fans - takes responsibility, everyone wins."
