BrainSell, a Massachusetts-based value-added software reseller, experienced 90% growth last year according to Inc. and added 10 new jobs in 2014. BrainSell ranks at #3545 on this year's list (#108 in Massachusetts), and also ranks highly in their industry segment (#263 in software). Inc. states that 2015 was the most competitive year since the list was started, and that the average company on the list archives over 400% growth over the last three years. Since last year, BrainSell has opened a successful NetSuite practice and has rapidly expanded their BPM (business process management) and marketing automation practices.

This year's list measures revenue growth from 2011 to 2014. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2011. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent -- not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies -- as of December 31, 2014.
