WASHINGTON, Aug. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Elizabeth Chien-Hale, former Apple in-house counsel and founder of the Institute for Intellectual Property Law in Asia (I2PLA), has joined Brinks Gilson & Lione in Washington, supplementing the firm's patent practice and the intellectual property services it provides to clients doing business in China, Taiwan and other Asian markets.

Chien-Hale earned her L.L.M. with distinction in International and Comparative Law at the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, and her J.D. at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she was Lead Articles Editor for the University of Hawaii Law Review. She received her M.A. in computational linguistics at the University of California Berkeley, where she also earned her B.S. in mechanical and aerospace engineering. She also earned a Certificate in Networking in the Masters of Engineering program at the University of Toronto.
Active in the ABA IP Law Section, and a member of the American Society of International Law, the AIPLA, and other professional organizations, Chien-Hale was a research scholar at the College of Law of the Peking University in Beijing, China, and in 2007 was a visiting scholar at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She is fluent in Chinese.
