Digital Works Places Its 500th Job

The innovative Digital Works program provides digital skills and employment

COLUMBUS, OHIO, Sept. 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- More than 500 jobs have been secured by graduates of the Digital Works program since its 2013 launch in Ohio. Regina Nichols of West Union, Ohio, recently accepted an advanced customer support position with Convergys, which is the official 500th Digital Works job placement.

"Digital Works is the reason I'm able to work from home," said Nichols. "It is one of the biggest employment opportunities in our community. I recommend it to anyone who is self-motivated."

Nichols worked at home for 12 years as a child care provider until becoming a full-time caregiver for her aging father. When he passed away in February, she became unemployed. Nichols heard about Digital Works and was excited at the opportunity to continue her work-at-home lifestyle. She graduated from the Digital Works program in May and was immediately hired as a contract support representative with two companies, LiveOps and Maritz. Recently, Nichols was hired by Convergys, where she accepted a full-time position with benefits. In that role, she is a support representative for a client in the satellite entertainment industry.

"I'm excited for the growth opportunities this position offers–the added bonuses, pay raises, and advanced positions of team lead or trainer," said Nichols.

"By working closely with Digital Works, Convergys has been able to provide meaningful career opportunities for many people," said Camilla Langenderfer, Regional Talent Acquisition Leader for Convergys. "Digital Works offers a unique program that has brought many great employees to Convergys. We look forward to continued success in the future."

Digital Works connects people to leading edge customer support and IT jobs for global corporations by providing training, mentorship, and job placement assistance, as well as the opportunity for advanced careers. Many program graduates benefit from the work-at-home opportunities available with the more than 35 Digital Works employer partners. If trainees do not have Internet access at their home or prefer a more traditional office environment, they can choose to work from a Digital Works facility.

"Our program is groundbreaking," said Stu Johnson, Vice President of Digital Works. "There's no other workforce training program that offers the full package like Digital Works does. We are able to offer employer-customized training to high-quality candidates, job-placement assistance, on-going mentorship and support beyond a candidate securing a job, and even advanced training and career development. It's proving to be largely successful, and we continue to grow because of a high employer demand for these types of jobs," said Johnson.

The Digital Works program operates eight centers across the state of Ohio through a grant funding by the Ohio Developmental Services Agency. The program is also offered in Kentucky and Texas and will be opening soon in Cheboygan, Michigan.
