National Association of Drug Court Professionals Names Carson Fox as New CEO

Former Prosecutor, Renowned Criminal Justice Leader to Begin Immediately

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) announced today that its Board of Directors on Friday unanimously approved the hiring of Carson Fox as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Fox, who previously served as the organization's Chief Counsel and Chief Operating Officer, assumes the role effectively immediately.

"Carson's leadership, vision, and expertise are unparalleled. There is no individual better suited to lead NADCP and ensure that Drug Courts, DWI Courts, Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts, and Veterans Treatment Courts set the standard for justice reform," said NADCP Board Chair Judge Ruben Reyes. "Under Carson's leadership, NADCP will enter a new era of innovation and growth, and he will fight to expand funding, training and resources for our field."

Carson Fox has served the Drug Court field for nearly twenty years and brings to the position a unique understanding of Drug Court development and operations, extraordinary leadership in forging strategic partnerships, and the experience and expertise necessary to educate national leaders on the success and cost-effectiveness of Drug Courts and other treatment courts.

Mr. Fox's passion and career follow his conviction that the justice system can be a place of healing for the addicted and mentally ill. In 1996, he helped establish the first Drug Court in South Carolina and served as its prosecutor and administrator for more than five years. Mr. Fox joined the faculty of the National Drug Court Institute in 1997, leading the first Drug Court Coordinator Training and the Drug Court Planning Initiative. In 2001, Carson joined NADCP full time, and in 2006 he was named Chief Counsel and Chief Operating Officer.

During his career at NADCP, Mr. Fox has developed curricula and policy for Adult, Family and Juvenile Drug Courts, DWI Courts, Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts, Veterans Treatment Courts and, most recently, the Justice For Vets National Mentor Corps Boot Camp. He has helped lead the expansion of Drug Courts at the local, state, national, and international level. As the lead architect of the NADCP Annual Training Conference and the visionary behind the development of the Adult Drug Court Best Practice Standards, Mr. Fox has been a driving force in advancing the Drug Court field from promising experiment to the most successful justice intervention in our nation's history.

"It is a great honor to lead such an incredible field of professionals," said Mr. Fox. "Drug Courts represent the very best of our justice system, and as CEO, I will ensure they are the foundation of American justice reform."
