AMI This Week returns to AMI-tv with a new look

TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) announced today that AMI This Week, its weekly, newsmagazine series will return to AMI-tv October 9 with a fresh, new look.

AMI This Week is a unique program that embodies a sense of community for Canadians of all abilities. Each episode explores hot topics trending across the country, celebrates extraordinary individuals doing amazing things in their community, highlights local events and tracks the latest developments in assistive technology.

"AMI This Week aims to encourage those living with a disability to feel connected and get involved with their community in any way they can," says John Melville, Vice President of Programming and Production for AMI-tv. "With a new look and feel to the program we're excited to have our talented hosts showcase the myriad of things to do, places to visit and events to experience all across Canada."
 
This season, AMI This Week is pleased to welcome two new co-hosts, Molly Burke and Anthony McLachlan. Molly is a motivational speaker and anti-bullying activist who was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa and began losing her sight at the age of four. She was previously featured in the AMI original documentary A New Friend in Sight and has travelled the world sharing her story. Anthony is new to AMI and is a graduate of Carleton University and the College of Sports Media. He has an eye condition called Congenital Nystagmus (involuntary movement of the eyes caused by light sensitivity) and is an avid sports fan.
 
Molly and Anthony will be joined by AMI Broadcast Presenters who are blind or partially sighted from across the country including: Dave Brown in Ottawa, Grant Hardy in Vancouver, Jennie Bovard in Halifax, Kelly MacDonald in Toronto and introducing seven-time Paralympic medal winner Viviane Forest in Edmonton.
 
The new season of AMI This Week begins Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. Episodes will also be available online with the AMI-player one week after the initial air date. Past episodes of AMI This Week are currently available online.
