This point-and-shoot camera is built around a large, 12.9MP 4/3" MOS sensor that provides an ample amount of control over depth of field and high performance in low-light conditions, due to its optically-stabilized DC Vario-Summilux f/1.7-2.8 lens, aided by its expandable ISO range from 100 to 25,600. The D-LUX (Typ 109) works well for macro, street photography, photojournalism, landscapes, and any situation that calls for a high-performing compact camera.
The Leica D-LUX (Typ 109) camera offers NTSC or PAL UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) output at 30p or 24p, which can be saved as easy-to-use MP4 files. 1080p full HD or standard-definition video can be captured if large files sizes aren't necessary to your work. Both still images and video are saved to SD-type cards, up to and including those with SDXC capacities.

In addition to file transfer from the memory card, Leica has integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) and Wi-Fi, allowing smartphones or tablets with the Leica Image Shuttle app to record pictures simultaneous to shooting. A live image can be generated and controlled through the app as well.
