Altec CEO Urges Quick Passage of the Highway Bill

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Altec's Chairman and CEO, Lee Styslinger III has commended the negotiators in the House and Senate for reaching agreement on a five-year highway bill and has called on Congress for quick passage of the legislation. In addition to modernizing the federal permitting and approval process for major infrastructure projects, the bill also includes a multiyear reauthorization of the U.S. Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im).

"Investing and modernizing America's aging infrastructure is critical to restoring economic growth in the U.S. by allowing manufacturers to efficiently transport products and reach new markets", said Styslinger.  "We urge Congress to move as quickly as possible to pass, and for President Obama to sign this bi-partisan legislation to help America compete in the global marketplace.  In addition, the multiyear reauthorization of Ex-Im included in this bill will help to strengthen the U.S. economy by creating jobs and leveling the playing field in overseas markets for American businesses."

Styslinger was a key member of George W. Bush's Export Council and was responsible for advising President Bush on government policies and programs that affect U.S. economic growth, trade performance and export expansion opportunities.
