PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - Dec 14, 2015) - Three years ago, the local non-profit Music Workshop started bringing music education, free of charge, to any elementary or middle school that wanted or needed the magic of music. Now Music Workshop has revolutionized music education once again with its new student-facing launch of Maestro's Movements. Students and families can explore grade-appropriate music instruction that enables them to learn outside of the classroom at their own pace and time.
Maestro's Movements are short educational videos teaching students about the world of music, including history, genres, instruments, influential musicians, styles, terms and more. Each video provides students with extended learning opportunities such as games, interactive activities and concerts bringing the world of musical knowledge to everyone. Phase I currently includes Classical, Jazz, Birth of Rock & Roll, Piano, Guitar and World Instruments. After funding, Phase II will include Evolution of Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Country, Voice, Percussion, and Strings.
"Thanks to our generous supporters of Phase I, now students anywhere in the world with an interest in music, can access free music education entirely independent of what may or may not be taught at their individual schools," said Amy Richter, Executive Director of Music Workshop. The program intends to be effective either as a stand-alone application or as an extension to the current school-facing Music Workshop program.
Music Workshop is currently educating more than 25,000 students in over 70 schools throughout Oregon and Washington. Maestro's Movements is uniquely flexible and student facing, creating a safe online learning experience for all pupils. Phase I is now available at www.maestrosmovements.org.
To help fund Phase II of Maestro's Movements, hoping to release by spring 2016, Music Workshop is asking supporters to please make a donation today.
