Erickson Delivers Tail Pylons for Sikorsky CH-53E Helicopters, Supporting U.S. Naval Fleet

PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Erickson Incorporated (NASDAQ:EAC), a leading global provider of aviation services, is pleased to announce completion of its fourth delivery of aircraft tail pylons for the Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion the largest helicopter is the U.S. naval fleet. The fifth and final pylon will ship by the end of the year. Erickson was contracted by Sikorsky Aircraft, now Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, to fabricate and assemble five out-of-production spare aircraft tail pylons at Erickson’s facility in Central Point, Oregon. The major assembly of these specialized tail pylons directly supports the U.S. Marine Corps, where the CH-53E performs critical defense missions supporting freedom and preserving lives.

“Erickson Incorporated is increasingly a trusted provider of contemporary maintenance and repair services, which this project exemplifies,” Jeff Roberts, CEO and President of Erickson stated. “Our extensive history with the Sikorsky aircraft specifically enables us to perform this important work for the U.S. Marine Corps.”

Erickson was selected for this contract for its expertise in legacy aircraft support and manufacturing capabilities, and is well equipped to perform comprehensive aero structure assemblies and low volume production projects. The company possesses a unique familiarity with Sikorsky drawing and specification systems, and inherited those systems with the purchase of the iconic S-64 (CH-54) Skycrane certificate in 1992. Erickson’s experience with the S-64 is directly relevant to the specifications and construction of the CH-53E (S-65) as both designs were created within the same decade.
