WILLOWBROOK, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 30, 2015) -
When: Thursday, January 7, 2016 - 10 a.m.
Where: Mosaic Gardens at Willowbrook, 12627 Willowbrook Ave., Willowbrook, CA 90222 (Please note: For directions, some mapping apps prefer Compton entered for the city.)
What: The community, Los Angeles County officials, LINC Housing and other partners will gather to celebrate the start of construction of Mosaic Gardens at Willowbrook, a 61-unit affordable housing community for formerly homeless households and low-income families.
Thirty-one apartments are for formerly homeless residents. The new development is part of LINC's work to combine housing and healthcare as a holistic approach to improving people's lives and transforming neighborhoods. With support from the Partners in Progress grant program with Citi Foundation and Low Income Investment Fund, LINC has explored various approaches to developing a housing and health model that can be replicated. LINC sees partnerships with the health industry and the creation of permanent supportive housing as opportunities to create real neighborhood change.
Within a half mile of the property, residents of this community will have access to many amenities including an elementary school, public transportation, retail shopping, pharmacies and other service opportunities. The properties are within a mile of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Multi-Service Ambulatory Care Center, and the Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Metro Station, both of which are undergoing major renovations.
Mosaic Gardens at Willowbrook has strong support from Los Angeles County and the community. As homelessness rises, leaders in this tight-knit community want to work together with the public and private sectors to make positive changes in the neighborhood. The $20-million development is due to be completed in spring 2017.
