Percona Names Bob Dourandish Vice President of Engineering

DURHAM, NC--(Marketwired - Jan 14, 2016) - Percona, the company that delivers enterprise-class MySQL® and MongoDB® solutions and services, today announced the appointment of Bob Dourandish to vice president of engineering. Dourandish will be responsible for guiding the engineering efforts for all Percona software shipped to customers.

Dourandish has more than 30 years of experience building and delivering software and has been an executive manager for the last 15 years. A recognized thought leader and innovator, Dourandish has published 31 technical papers in peer-reviewed journals and for conferences, and has filed three patent applications.

Prior to Percona, Dourandish was vice president of product engineering for ScaleDB, where he planned and built the infrastructure to transform the company's technology into a marketable product. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years at Quimba Software, which engaged in advanced software development projects focused on massively-scaled, service-oriented, mission-critical systems and Big Data analytics to support time-critical decision making using artificial intelligence. As chief technology officer of Quimba, Dourandish managed all day-to-day and strategic technical operations, as well as all customer interactions, partners and joint ventures. His hands-on leadership resulted in numerous successful projects, including ontoloy-driven Big Data real-time analytics and machine learning for the U.S. Air Force; distributed Big Data mining for DARPA; real-time, closed-loop Big Data analytics for the U.S. Department of Transportation; and near real-time, closed-loop, cognitive decision making for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Prior to Quimba Software, Dourandish was vice president of engineering at Tradenable, a business-to-consumer trust services provider.
