DirectTrust Appoints Bruce Schreiber and Renee Smith to Its Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Feb 3, 2016) -  DirectTrust today announced the appointment of health care industry executives Bruce Schreiber and Renee Smith to its board of directors. DirectTrust is a non-profit health care industry alliance created by and for participants in the Direct exchange network used for secure, interoperable exchange of personal health information (PHI) between provider organizations, and between provider and patients, for the purpose of improved coordination of care. Over 52,000 U.S. health care organizations now participate in the DirectTrust network.

Schreiber is the Chief Technology Officer at MaxMD, a leader in secure healthcare information technology and interoperability solutions. In his role, Schreiber is responsible for technical strategy and development as well as for building the company`s technological systems. MaxMD has participated in the Direct project since the Direct Project Rules of the Road workgroup in 2011. Prior to joining MaxMD, Schreiber worked in the financial industry for 25 years as a risk manager, quantitative analyst and a technologist. 

Ms. Smith is the Global Director of IT Enterprise Planning & Portfolio Management at Walgreens Boots Alliance. She uses her passion for quality and accessible healthcare, her extensive IT experience and her process improvement expertise in achieving the goals of health care reform. Her professional and volunteer efforts are focused on enabling foundational capabilities in interoperability and removing blockers in the areas of policy, process & technology for providers, payers, patients and proxies. Smith has led the development of clinical interoperability capabilities that are being leveraged on a national scale with partners including Epic, Surescripts, Cerner, Orion & Greenway.
