Samsung Unveils the New Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Smartphones; More Info at B&H Photo

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - February 22, 2016) - Samsung debuted the latest iterations of its Galaxy-brand smartphones in Barcelona today, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones. Both feature significant upgrades to their camera setup, processing chipset, storage features, and overall design.

As with last year's S6 models, both flagships will feature a QHD Super AMOLED display, though the edge's will feature a slightly larger 5.5" display versus the S.7's 5.1". Both models will utilize Samsung's new Always-On Display, which continuously displays time, date, and notification data even when the devices are asleep.

Samsung also enhanced the new S7's camera array. Both variants feature a 12MP rear lens with an aperture of f/1.7 that Samsung promises will allow you to shoot more detailed photos even in low-light conditions. A 5MP selfie camera is on-board as well.

Two features missing from last year's Galaxy models make their return in the S7: IP68-rated waterproof protection and a microSD card slot that allows users to add up to 200GB of memory to their base storage. Though it wasn't missing from last year's models, battery life has also been improved for the S7. The new variants feature an enhanced 3000 and 3600mAh battery capacity, which is a significant step up from last year's models.

All these features, combined with a new chipset, the latest version of Android OS, and a suite of compatible accessories mean the new S7 and S7 edge could very well be Samsung's strongest showing yet.
