NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - March 21, 2016) - SmartMetric, Inc. (
They were asked, "would you pay for a safer biometric secured credit card that has a built in fingerprint reader for your protection?" and 67% said they would. This follows an earlier question showing 80% of the credit card users are concerned about card and identity fraud.
We were amazed at the level of concern of credit card holders regarding card fraud. While we never expected 67% of consumers said they would pay for a fingerprint biometric credit card in order to have better protection agains credit card fraud. Honestly we would have been happy to see a 5% or even 10% number of card holders wanting our kind of product but to have such an overwhelming number (68%) not only say they would like such a product but would in fact pay for it, is beyond anything we expected said SmartMetric's President & CEO, Chaya Hendrick.
SmartMetric is in talks with credit card issuing banks around the world and is proceeding with licensing and testing for one of the major global card networks. The company is delighted with the level of interest in its new biometric payments card product and while working within the financial payments industry is a protracted process the company is extremely satisfied with the progress in adoption of its biometric card being made, said Chaya Hendrick.
SmartMetric is offering its biometric fingerprint activated credit card for $50.00 a card to card issuing banks. Consumer research shows card users would pay considerably more than this if offered to protect against card fraud. The SmartMetric biometric credit card is built around the global EMV chip card. There are now more than 3.4 billion chip cards issued globally.
SmartMetric has created a fingerprint activated biometric credit card that uses a super miniature fingerprint scanner inside the credit card that is used to identify and validate the card user. The card holder simply swipes their finger across the sensor on the surface of the card and in less than 0.25 seconds the card reads and matches the person's fingerprint that then in turn activates the card for use at the checkout or ATM. SmartMetric has also created a small USB card reader adaptor that turns a person's laptop into a much safer way to buy online. Simply inserting the USB card reader into the USB port of the laptop, activating the card by swiping your finger and then inserting your card into the reader has now brought the safety and power of biometric security to the online user.
