BERNINA of America Partners With Etsy Labs to Host Sewing Machine Basics Classes Thursday March 31 and Friday April 1 in Brooklyn New York

AURORA, IL--(Marketwired - Mar 28, 2016) - BERNINA of America, the premier manufacturer of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Etsy Labs to host a series of free sewing machine basics classes. The first two-hour classes include The Anatomy of a Sewing Machine on Thursday, March 31, and The Easy, Peasy, Squeezy Drawstring Bag on Friday, April 1. Both classes are available at three time slots daily and will take place at Etsy Labs located at 55 Washington Street, Suite 712 in Brooklyn. BERNINA educator, Christine Gist and sewing expert, Gayle Schliemann will teach the classes. Registration is required as space is limited. To register, visit the Etsy Labs events page, www.etsy.com/community/events, and click on the Register Here button to select your class.

The Anatomy of a Sewing Machine class will teach attendees how to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, load the bobbin, and sew in a straight line. Additionally, attendees will learn important sewing vocabulary in order to follow patterns and other tutorials. 
The class will be offered on Thursday, March 31:

• 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Easy, Peasy, Squeezy Drawstring Bag class will teach attendees the basics of operating a sewing machine, along with machine techniques needed to make a practical drawstring bag. 
The class will be offered on Friday, April 1:

• 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
